M. Sc. lek. stom. Tomasz Śmigiel
1997 Medical University of Silesia graduate. As part of statutory education, he took part in many national and international congresses in, among others, Copenhagen, Boston, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Heidelberg, Madrid and Milan.
In 2009 he completed the "Implantological Curriculum" at Johan Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. As a result of this feat, he acquired broader knowledge and implantological skills.
In 2010 he started at the said university and in May 2012 he acquired the title of Master of Science in Oral Implantology. In March 2012 he conducted innovative research at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main along with Holger Ziprich, MSc. Research was supervised by Professor Paul Weigl in person. The research pertained to the durability of a new telescopic system that was developed by means of a virtual technique - CAD/CAM. As a result, a scientific dissertation titled: "The retentive force evaluation of a novel retainer for removable dentures" came into being.
The innovative telescopic method of fixing prosthetic works on implants, as devised by Tomasz Śmigiel, has met with great recognition and success while the authorities of the Goethe University asked Dr Tomasz Śmigiel to agree to a continuation of the his research with his participation. The research started in September 2013.
Tomasz Smigiel is an author of numerous publications in professional medical press.
At present, he is a Member of the Board of the Polish Academy of Esthetic Dentistry which constitutes the cutting edge in the Polish dental education. Within the scope of PASE (which belongs to The International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry) international congresses can take place that attract participants and lecturers from all over the world.
He is the first in Poland to have introduced the innovative scanner called TRIOS and designed by 3Shape into his practice. Owing to his remarkable experience in the scope of innovative dentistry, in December 2012 he organized the first scientific conference on CAD/CAM and Digital Dentistry (Technology vs. Art).
In 2014 he was asked to fill the post of editor-in-chief of International Magazine of Digital Dentistry CAD/CAM. To date, this magazine has been the first and only to depict the topic of digital dentistry in Poland.
